Hot Chocolate Brownies Simple Recipe – just for you. These chocolate brownies are fudgy, chocolaty, moist and absolutely delicious. They have big chunks of milk chocolate on top that spread in the oven. I used 2 different cocoa powders and one secret ingredient – hot cocoa powder.
Ingredients:
- 110 g melted butter
- 100 g melted dark chocolate
- 140 g granulated white sugar
- 40 g brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 10 g black cocoa powder
- 10 g regular cocoa powder
- 10 g hot cocoa powder
- 65 g flour
- 50 g chunks of milk chocolate
This is hot chocolate brownies – a simple recipe. It’s effortless, as a brownie recipe should be—at least the basic good old brownie recipe. Underbaked batter is definitely fudgy with a crackly top and lots of chocolate flavour. We ate the whole thing in two days.
Hot to make the crackly top on brownies?
The secret is using melted main ingredients – butter and chocolate. These fats will melt the sugar, which gets on top and make this beautiful design. To achieve the crackly top, make sure these ingredients are warm enough to melt the sugar. If not – heat them in the microwave for a few seconds and whisk again.
My brownies are seasoned with big fat chunks of milk chocolate that give them an extra creamy consistency. While they’re hot of course.

MY TIPS FOR BAKING PERFECT BROWNIES:
- use dark chocolate for batter – to make rich fudgy brownies I recommend using melted dark chocolate
- use cocoa powder – for a more intense and rich chocolate flavour use cocoa powder in the batter
- use a shot of coffee – to maximize the taste of chocolate
- underbaked brownies – the rule for perfect fudgy brownies is an underbaked batter. I recommend baking brownies at 180/170°C for a shorter period of time.
- use a small and deep baking tray – to make brownies nice tall and chunky, use a small baking tray.
how to make Hot Chocolate Brownies Simple Recipe:
Preheat the oven to 180°C. If you are not sure if it’s too high for you – bake it at 170°C to make sure. Prepare a baking tray (23 x 28 cm) with baking paper.
In a bowl whisk melted butter and melted chocolate with sugars. Make sure the sugars are getting melt while whisking. If there are still granules of sugar – heat the whole mixture in the microwave for 10 seconds and continue whisking.
Add eggs and whisk until combined.
Add flour, cocoa powders and hot cocoa powder to the mix. Give it a proper stir until the flour disappears. Pour the batter into the baking tray and sprinkle with roughly cut milk chocolate. Bake it for 20-30 minutes.
Cut the brownies with a knife – if the knife is clean, turn off the heat and leave the oven open. Give brownies 5 minutes to chill in the oven. Then take them out of the oven and let them cool completely. I served mine with ice cream and melted milk chocolate.
