Christmas brownies with chocolate icing are right between cakey and fudgy. They are just thick Christmas brownies with smooth chocolate icing that just taste amazing. HOW TO MAKE CRINKLE TOP ON BROWNIES?
These Christmas brownies are perfectly firm but also fudgy and cakey. I like brownies with a crinkly top and as many food bloggers said, there is a trick you can try to reach that. The mystery is solved – warm butter with sugar. The technique is so easy. Just warm up the butter (in the microwave or on the stove) for 30 seconds. Add sugar. Then whisk with an egg whisker and warm up again for 60 seconds. I saw a few bakers who have done this and their brownies were chef’s kiss stunning. So I tried it as well. AMAZING.
In case this way doesn’t go well for you, next time try whisking eggs separately in another bowl, and then add them to the rest of the ingredients. I saw many other ways how to reach that crinkly top and so many people said they couldn’t make it. I guess it’s all about the technique and the oven.
WHY IS THIS THE BEST CHRISTMAS BROWNIES RECIPE?
Not gonna lie – I think that brownies are the coolest. You can serve just a piece of brownie and people are good and satisfied. You can serve brownies with a scoop of ice cream, pour some melted chocolate on top, whipped cream, or serve them with fresh fruit like strawberries. YUM.
However, why is this recipe the best? The recipe is so simple. You can eat these Christmas brownies after 2 hours. For real.
- time-saving dessert
- everybody loves chocolate (almost)
- easy to cut and serve
- you can get creative with brownies
How to make Christmas Brownies With Chocolate Icing:
Preheat the oven to 165°C. Prepare a baking tray (23 x 28 cm) with baking paper.
Start by melting butter in the microwave (for 30 seconds) or on the stove. When the butter starts to be runny and warm, add brown sugar and mix well with an egg whisker (do not whip it). Now, get the butter with sugar back into the microwave or on the stove, and heat up for 40 seconds. Mix again.
Chop the chocolate and add to the warm butter mixture. Mix again until the chocolate is completely melted. Once it’s combined well, add eggs and egg yolk. Mix again. Add flour, baking powder and cocoa powder. Stir the dry ingredients in with a rubber spatula.
Pour the brownie mix on the baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes. When you get them out of the oven they should be still a little jiggly. Let them cool on the baking sheet for 20 minutes and then let them out to cool completely.
Chocolate icing
In a bowl whisk butter, icing sugar, and cocoa powder with hot water. Whisk until silk and smooth. Pour on top of the cool brownies and spread over the top. Put sugar decorations on top.
MY TIPS AND TRICKS FOR THE BEST BROWNIE RECIPE:
- room temperature ingredients (always!)
- smaller and deeper baking tray – tall, cakey, thick brownie pieces
- you can use milk chocolate for this recipe
- you don’t have to warm up butter if it’s too annoying, just use melted butter
- chop up the chocolate into small pieces – melts quicker
- use an eggwhite whisker to catch air (butter, sugar, eggs), and use a rubber spatula to stir flour to make fudgy brownies
